Vuitton Foundation Moves Ahead

Regulatory hurdle cleared, construction of the Frank Gehry-designed Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation begins.

PARIS — Construction of the Frank Gehry-designed Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation in the Bois de Boulogne here cleared a regulatory hurdle this week when a court-appointed referee rejected an appeal by the Coordination for the protection of the Bois de Boulogne organization.

In February, the court had annulled certain regulations concerning construction in Paris’ wooded and green spaces. Works on it were never interrupted, however, and Vuitton is aiming to open the art foundation in 2012.
