PUT ME IN COACH: Coach brought a dose of New York cool to Paris last Thursday night for its “Fall In Love With New York” party, celebrating the American brand’s recent arrival in France. The event was held at the Villa Emerige, a private contemporary art-filled townhouse.

In one room, guests could pose for a seven-second video that was then printed out as a series of photos and bound into personal flip books. Actress Mélanie Laurent, who is about to start directing her first movie, starring Marie Denarnaud and “Inglourious Basterds”’ Denis Menochet, said what she loved most about New York is the city’s steady stream of yellow cabs. “You can never get a taxi in France. There’s also nothing better than walking the streets of New York eating a hotdog,” she said.
“New York has such an amazing energy, it’s so inspiring for the arts,” commented French singer Sliimy, scooting off to dance. French tennis hero-turned-singer Yannick Noah said he loves the anonymity the city affords him. “I feel free there,” he said, adding that he’s trying to raise funds for a museum project for Cameroon that will be dedicated to the country’s cultural patrimony. “I live in L.A., that’s what I love about New York,” laughed Samantha Ronson, who manned the decks. The deejay said she’s been busy working on her next album. Also mixing the L.A./New York lifestyle, her chaperone, fellow night owl André, who is gearing up to open his New York Le Baron venue in December said in the same month he plans to open a pop-up club in Hollywood with Paul Sevigny.
