HRH Princess Anne/Vionnet: Even with a pretty floral print, a long-sleeve peplum jacket over an evening skirt just looks dated. Instead, a long-sleeved coatdress is a more modern take on the look.
Princess Elena/Jean Paul Gaultier: This white evening suit looks like a female knockoff of John Travolta in “Saturday Night Fever.” A sharply cut white trench is much more chic.
Princess Eugenie/Louis Vuitton: Work wear for the younger set begs a little more effort than a t-shirt and skirt. Add a jacket, like in this ode Ali McGraw, for a more put together look.
Princess Elena of Spain/Carolina Herrera: Too much colored taffeta, layered with other fabrics just looks way too heavy. A remedy is a more fitted style that takes advantage of the material’s structural quality.
Duchess Gunilla Bernadotte of Wisborg/Tuleh: One should know that hot pink is anything but when worn in heavy tiers down to the floor. A 50s style coatdress is a much less scandalous choice.
HRH Princess Alexandra/Donna Karan: This striped evening jacket is both dowdy and dated. A more elegant and textured version is more fit for royalty.
