LOUIS VUITTON: Nothing says Louis Vuitton like a trunk and for his inaugural turn as head designer at the house, Nicolas Ghesquière reworked the iconic steamer trunk as bags, like this mini version replete with zip-away cover.
VALENTINO: Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli got matchy-matchy on their fall Valentino runway, working furs, bags and shoes in coordinating patterns.
CHANEL #1: How’s that for fresh off the runway? At his supermarket-chic Chanel show, Karl Lagerfeld shrink-wrapped his latest incarnation of the house’s quilted bag.

SAINT LAURENT: Hedi Slimane’s fall show for Saint Laurent took a walk along Carnaby Street. These graphic geometric earrings and glittery, yet sensible, Mary Janes, were perfect for a latter-day Edie Sedgwick.
STELLA MCCARTNEY: Stella McCartney added a touch of Seventies glam rock to her fall collection, which included this cool clutch with a motif of bold stars.
GIVENCHY: Riccardo Tisci sent a strong yet feminine message down his Givenchy runway, matching up many of the clothes and bags. Here, his chain-link shopping tote worked in the same texture as the bodice of a dress.
CHLOÉ: There were some tranquilly feminine moments on Clare Waight Keller’s Chloé runway, one of which included this new handbag, called the Dalton, in shades of nude and barely there purple. Despite its full-tote size, it was shown snuggled under the model’s arm for a warm and cozy effect.
JOHN GALLIANO: Bill Gaytten might be moving the John Galliano brand in a ladylike direction, but his animal-esque boots — done in python skin, leather and antelope fur with exaggerated metal accents — were nothing but fierce.
CÉLINE: Phoebe Philo knows a thing or two about chic comfort. For fall her cool Céline girl had it in spades, from the big and cozy muffs to the simple wedge sandals.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: Jean Paul Gaultier’s fall collection featured many retro-futuristic silhouettes in metallic fabrics. The standout accessory, a tin can clutch clearly inspired by the designer’s signature perfume packaging but with chic tarnish finish, perfectly complimented the Space Odyssey vibe.
ROGER VIVIER: For Roger Vivier’s fall collection, Bruno Frisoni worked a rich color palette inspired by the bazaars of Central Asia. Here, his boots and bags in combinations of calf hair, suede, leather and Mongolian lamb fur.
COMME DES GARÇONS: Who needs a scarf when you can have a puffy wool harness? Rei Kawakubo sent this wonderfully whimsical — and warm — accoutrement down her Comme des Garçons runway on Saturday.
PIERRE HARDY: Ground control to Major Hardy! Astronaut boots were the inspiration behind Pierre Hardy’s suede booties with a cool, futuristic silver ring.
DIOR: On his fall runway, Raf Simons’ latest bag for Dior, the Diorissimo, provided refreshing pops of color in a graphic new shape.
NINA RICCI: Fur shoes are proving to be a major accessories trend for fall. On his Nina Ricci runway, Peter Copping showed velvet sandals with furry insoles for a dose of cozy glam.
LANVIN: Alber Elbaz’s Lanvin runway was overflowing with fringe, fur, feathers and frou. Here, his dramatic hat trimmed in layers of marabou plumage.
SHARON WAUCHOB: The warm and fuzzy accessories on Sharon Wauchob’s runway were multifunctional. Furry clutch? Yes. Stuffed animal? Why not?
BALENCIAGA: Those cloth grocery totes are fine in a pinch but Alexander Wang proposed a major upgrade on his Balenciaga runway with these seriously luxe shoppers done in rich leathers and exotics.
EDDIE BORGO: Even music-making will be chic come fall. Eddie Borgo featured these metal castanets in his Morrocan-inspired collection for fall.
DRIES VAN NOTEN: Dries Van Noten’s accessories bloomed on his fall runway: oversize 3-D brooches done in painted silk came draped across the bodice for a very dramatic effect.
