MAKING THE CUT: “Aha! My fellow Austrian!” exclaimed Nadja Swarovski before embracing her friend Wolfgang Puck at a dinner Friday evening to mark the opening of his first London outpost, Cut at 45 Park Lane.
“It’s about time you came to London!” said Swarovski, adding that she never leaves Los Angeles without feasting at Cut – famous for its steaks – at the Beverly Wilshire. Charles Finch was the host and guests included Puck’s wife Gelila, Jaquetta Wheeler, Ed Victor, Tamara Beckwith, Ozwald Boateng, Vanessa Getty, Adrian Gill, Nicola Formby, Kim Hersov, India Hicks, Rita Konig, Mark Quinn and Vidal Sassoon.
“I left the children at home tonight especially to taste his food,” related Hicks. “It would have been cheese on toast otherwise!” Known for catering each year to the official post-Academy Awards banquet, Puck is a dab hand at high-pressure gigs. So how does he handle the heat in the Academy Awards kitchen? “You know, I’ve done it so long I no longer get too stressed about it. Although, I save a great bottle of wine to enjoy after!”
