CLASSIC CUISINE: Boasting a “true food” concept of Cajun cuisine with Southwestern and Asian hints, Serpas is housed in an old cotton storage facility in the historic Old Fourth Ward, east of Downtown. Chef and owner Scott Serpas serves stellar dishes like shrimp-andouille croquettes, sage pork-stuffed mushrooms and lemon rhubarb cake.

BAGGING IT: Handbag enthusiasts will want to check out “In the Bag” at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) until May 2. For $5, visitors can browse bags by designers Jada Loveless and Hermès, memorable styles from “Sex and the City” and “Friends,” as well as pieces from students at Savannah College of Art and Design. Curators were Atlantans Kevin Knaus, a Material World exec and trend expert, and Clint Zeagler, owner and creative director of Pecan Pie Couture, a local women’s apparel line.
CHOP-CHOP: Buckhead staple Dantanna’s Surf & Turf has gone downtown, opening its Dantanna’s Downtown location in the CNN Center. The new branch features many of the same classics as its Buckhead brother — steaks, chops and lobster — with specialties including pan-seared peppered salmon, beer-battered shrimp, zinfandel short ribs and wasabi tuna.
FLIPPING OUT: “Top Chef” contestant Richard Blais has opened a gourmet burger venture — Flip Burger Boutique — complete with lamb burgers and goat cheese, veal and pork pâté melts and milk shakes in flavors like Krispy Kreme and Sweet Tea. Located in West Midtown on Howell Mill Road, the ambience is as kitschy as the cuisine, with commune-style tables, quirky white booths and mirrored ceilings.
