COFFEE FIX: Fans of Illy coffee will be glad to know they can visit the Illy Temporary Shop, designed by Caterina Tiazzoldi. Located in the city center, the pop-up is composed of 200 cube-shaped modules, which can be reassembled on a whim. The cubes are designed to fit Illy Café’s assorted products. Visit twice and you might not recognize it.

PLASTIC PLUS: It’s only been open since December, but Brazilian shoe star Melissa’s quirky new flagship has already become a top attraction in Milan. The company’s first Italian shop was created in partnership with Olag and features a modern, minimalist design — which only makes the cheery plastic shoes on display stand out more.
Brazilian architect Virginia Fabri’s interior design is a tribute to the many designers who have collaborated with the brand: Their portraits line the walls.

SHOP AND DINE: God Save the Food is a cross between an American diner and a posh supermarket. Those who lean toward veggies and granola will find an array of organic products, but full English breakfasts are also available, as are all sorts of juices and smoothies.

WHERE’S THE BEEF? Meat lovers, fear not: Ham Holy Burger will satisfy your craving for authentic Piedmont ham. This innovative restaurant melds tradition with technology, allowing guests to send their orders through iPads straight to the kitchen.

STAR BISTRO: For true foodies, Nobile Bistrò de Milan is open all day, with dishes created by renowned two-star Michelin chef Claudio Sadler. In the morning, it’s a regular cafeteria; during lunch there are well-made, seasoned appetizers for around 12 euros ($15), and later in the afternoon it becomes a tearoom that serves cups of the celebrated Mariage Frères. For dinner, the chef comes up with the varying menu and a meal, including wine, typically costs about $40 euros per person (about $51).
