MEGEVE, FRANCE


Who Goes

Where to Stay
The new Chalet Cashmere or Le Lodge Park—an ultraluxe log cabin. Suites there run $2,400 a night in high season.

Where to Drink
The “It” crowd gathers at Palo Alto, a club and disco opposite the village casino.

Flocons de Sel, a two–Michelin star restaurant in a 19th-century farmhouse.

Where to Shop
Antique shops and luxury boutiques, including Hermès, are situated around the Place de l’Eglise.

Where to Stay
The penthouse suite at the Gstaad Palace overlooks the city (from $11,000 a night). The 52 rooms in the Grand Hotel Bellevue are clean and modern.

Where to Drink
High-society types such as the GreenGo and the Bar du Grill, both located at the Gstaad Palace.

Where to Eat
Chesery for seafood and By Dalsass for Italian-inspired fare, but also try Le Grill at the Gstaad Palace and the Sonnenhof.

Where to Shop

Most designer stores worth hitting (Louis Vuitton, Loro Piana) are inside the Grand Hotel Park.

Where to Stay
Cristallo Palace Hotel & Spa is the most luxe (the presidential suite is $11,875 a night), but only open from December 20 to March.

VIP Club on Corso Italia serves Moscow Mules with fresh fruit.

Where to Eat
Il Meloncino Al Camineto. Order the casoncelli (meat dumplings).

Where to Shop
Ampezzan Fiori & Casa is the locals’ favorite flower shop; Sottosopra sells clothing and accessories made from boiled wool.

Where to Stay
Ritzy visitors opt for the Cristal Palace Hotel. The Alpen Suite Hotel is located near the slopes where the Ski World Cup is held.

Where to Drink
Sip Spumante at Ferrari Lounge Nabucco.

Where to Eat
Stube Hermitage for the buck sirloin in a cabernet reduction.

Where to Shop
L’officina del Sole for artisanal jewelry and Le Cose Buone di Cesare Maestri for specialty chocolates, pasta and grappa.

ASPEN, COLO.

Who Goes
Oprah Winfrey, Kate Hudson, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Goldie Hawn and her crew.

Where to Stay
Those who don’t have their own homes in the Hills stay at the 92-room Little Nell, Aspen’s only ski-in, ski-out resort.

Where to Drink
The Terrace Bar at the Little Nell is the hottest spot. Or hop in the 10-person hot tub at the 39 Degrees Lounge.

Where to Eat
Social restaurant features global tapas like the Kobe beef meatballs or a duck quesadilla.

Where to Shop
There is no shortage of Prada and Gucci boutiques, but insiders know Susie’s Limited is the best place to score a vintage Chanel shift.

VAIL, COLO.

Vail Cascade boasts the city’s best spa and a first-run movie theater.

Where to Drink
At Mezzaluna Vail, unwind and order a Keoke coffee with brandy, Kahlúa and crème de cacao.

Sweet Basil is the most popular bistro with dishes such as roasted veal chop with black pepper gnocchi or sesame-crusted shrimp.

Where to Shop
Nothing to wear? Shop Gorsuch Ltd. for haute skiwear from brands such as Sonia Bogner and Moncler.

JACKSON HOLE, WYO.

Who Goes
Sandra Bullock, Harrison Ford, Uma Thurman.

Where to Stay
The Amangani Resort has a two-to-one staff ratio.

Where to Drink
The Mangy Moose Restaurant and Saloon, located at the bottom of the slopes, is the quintessential après-ski bar.
