“I can’t wait for the Allegra Hicks band wagon to leave New York,” sighed the designer’s good friend, Ghislaine Maxwell, who’d hosted a party for the designer on Tuesday and then made her way over to Swifty’s on Wednesday for a party Rena Sindi threw, following Hicks’ store opening.
As guests like Renée Rockefeller, Lillian von Stauffenberg, Jennifer Creel, Valesca Guerrand-Hèrmes and Eva Lorenzotti tried to stay upright as the crowd became increasingly packed (“I just want a drink,” said Alex Kramer, trying in vain to get to the bar), Sindi ran around tirelessly rearranging the table seatings.
Tory Burch and beau Lance Armstrong made a late arrival, but declined to pose for pictures together. After a dinner of smoked salmon, steak and chocolate soufflé, the good times rolled on as many guests turned Swifty’s into an impromptu dance club.
