Although they were 3,000 miles from the Bryant Park tents, fashion was very much on the minds of guests at Estée Lauder’s West Coast launch of Beyond Paradise last Wednesday in Beverly Park. Jessica Capshaw, Daryl Hannah, Kim Cattrall and Maria Bello dined on a Nobu-prepared feast at the private hilltop estate while watching behind-the-scenes footage of the new ads directed by Luc Besson with music by Madonna. Host Aerin Lauder, who, hours before, was sitting in the front row at the Michael Kors show, shivered slightly in a silk Missoni. “I always think it’s going to be like summer out here,” she sighed.
But then Lauder didn’t leave herself much choice. She packed ultra-light for her one-night stay. “I wore jeans and a cashmere scarf on the plane, and brought my dress and my pajamas,” she said.

Carolyn Murphy knew better. She came prepared with a tweed Chanel jacket on one arm and boyfriend Brandon Boyd on the other. “Whenever Aerin and I get together, you can’t shut us up,” she said. “We like to talk about fashion, but more often we talk about our kids. I don’t know how she does it all.”
In fact, Lauder hardly missed a beat. By 10 a.m. Friday, she was back in New York, seated in the front row at the Ralph Lauren show.
