On Thursday, Louis Vuitton’s Antoine Arnault and Daniel Lalonde hosted the cast of “The Darjeeling Limited” and friends for an intimate dinner to fete the movie and its director Wes Anderson. It felt like a family reunion, with the movie’s cast and friends, including Anjelica Huston, Noah Baumbach, Waris Ahluwalia, Amara Karan and Roman Coppola breaking baguette with Francesco Clemente, Chiara Clemente, Susan Gutfreund, and Jacqui Getty, who had just flown in from Los Angeles.
This being Vuitton, the night had a decidedly French feel, from the venue — La Grenouille — to the flowing Krug champagne, the plates of poulet, and the one-of-a-kind custom-made luggage Marc Jacobs created for the film, which was on display as part of a silent auction.
Jason Schwartzman had chosen a different kind of accessory for the night — a wooden cane. “I broke a couple of toes two weeks ago,” he explained. “It was a soccer accident. I personally don’t think I need the cane, but my doctor thinks I may have to use it for up to six weeks.”
A very casual Adrien Brody had gone to the Vuitton boutique on Fifth Avenue earlier to pick out his getup for the night, and walked away with particularly bright orange shoes. “They had put aside a good selection of suits for me, but I asked them, ‘would you mind if I dressed in something a little different?'” he said. “And I got these day-glo chaussures.”
