PITCH PERFECT: “Me playing polo are you kidding? I’m so uncoordinated I’d knock someone out with the stick,” joked Amber Le Bon at the 25th Cartier International Polo at Windsor Great Park Sunday.
Instead, the model settled for watching the English and Argentinean polo teams take to the pitch at the event, which is one of the highlights of Britain’s social season.
The day drew a fashion and film crowd who included Neve Campbell, Tom Hardy, Poppy Delevigne, Geri Halliwell, Camilla Rutherford, Anna Friel and Matthew Williamson, who braved rainy showers to take in the action as they sipped Bellinis and champagne. Campbell admitted she had a lot to learn about the sport. “I’ve never played it, seen it or know anything about it,” she confessed.
Meanwhile Arnaud Bamberger, managing director of Cartier U.K., said he was in no doubt over which team he’d be cheering on. “The Prince of Wales was sat next to me at lunch, which is a very good reason to support England,” he said with a laugh. But despite the goodwill, it was Argentina who beat the English team 12-5.
