Once home to Boston’s Charles Street Jail, the 16-story Liberty Hotel is a $150 million property at the foot of Beacon Hill. Developer Richard Friedman is tight with Sen. Hillary and Bill Clinton — so much so they have made a habit of bunking up in Friedman’s Martha’s Vineyard home. The presidential candidate has yet to check out the new hotel, but one of her opponents, Sen. Chris Dodd, has already made the trip (although he skipped the Alexandra Champalimaud-designed presidential five-room spread).

Mick Jagger was among the first to plunk down the per diem rate of $5,500 for use of the presidential suite when, a few weeks back, he hosted a party in the 2,200-square-foot space for the cast and crew of “The Women,” which his company Jagged Films is producing. Safe to say there was no need to roll up the rug in any of the five rooms, with leading ladies like Annette Bening, Meg Ryan, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Eva Mendes and Candice Bergen.
