The dancing done in the Meatpacking District is normally more of the “on top of the tables” variety, but Monday night another form was being honored: ballet. Roberta Armani decided to throw a dinner at InnLW12 for her friend Italian dancer Roberto Bolle, appearing later this month in “Romeo & Juliet,” but in the end didn’t make the trip from Milan because she was ill. Co-host Stefano Tonchi picked up the slack and greeted guests including Barbara Wilhelm, Ingrid Sischy, Eugenia Silva and Fiona Scarry to the Canadian-inspired boite. Bolle grinned ear to ear all evening as he marveled at the crowd. “It’s very cool,” he said, just before taking his seat next to Fabiola Beracasa.
Party-goers were treated to a lengthy meal of tomato and mozzarella salad and grilled dorade. But the real draw was the greasy poutine (french fries drenched in cheese curds and gravy) served mid-meal and an indulgent chocolate sundae for dessert. More than one diner wondered, “Couldn’t we have skipped the fish?”
