After spending the day watching clothes go down the runway, select members of the fashion flock turned out on Tuesday night to gawk at some costumes on the big screen at a showing of the Coco Chanel biopic, “Coco Avant Chanel.”
The film’s stars — Audrey Tautou and Alessandro Nivola — joined the likes of Rachel Bilson, Estelle, Jason Wu and Candace Bergen on Tuesday night for a Chanel-sponsored screening at the Paris Theatre, which was followed by dinner at the Monkey Bar.

Though the turnout was good, Tautou still took the opportunity promote her project. “I really don’t see any other designer who has had such a destiny as Chanel,” said Tautou. “A movie [about a different designer] shouldn’t be made.”
Alessandro Nivola, who plays Chanel’s love interest, the British polo player Boy Capel, boasted about his on-screen sex appeal. “It’s amazing what a Freddie Mercury mustache can do for a chap,” said the actor.
