A little bit of old-world Italy came to New York Thursday night as the junior set hightailed it to the Metropolitan Club for the annual Save Venice benefit, which supports the restoration and maintenance of the historic city.
The party had a red and white theme, which was a sop to Cole Porter and his wife, Linda, who took over the Palazzo Ca’Rezzonico in the Twenties for a grand ball at which the guests all came decked out in masks and candy cane hues. This time, there were masks designed by everyone from Christian Lacroix to Proenza Schouler, though some guests simply ran right to the local store.
“Abracadabra,” said Kanye West with a shrug, referring to the magic and costume store on 21 Street.
“I went to Walgreens!” laughed Fabiola Beracasa, as she showed off her white feather mask. “I just stapled it together.”
Others in attendance included co-hosts Olivia Chantecaille and Alexandra Lind Rose; vice chairs Tinsley Mortimer, Annelise Peterson and Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, and happy couple Alex Kramer and Carlos Miele.
