Christie’s was a one-stop window-shopping paradise last week for Marisa Noel Brown, Celerie Kemble, Muffie Potter Aston, Blair Husain and Marjorie Raein, who, during the course of lunch, were able to survey shoes by Sergio Rossi, a fashion show by Lela Rose and the collection of bijouterie of the late Doris Duke, which will be up for auction at the house in June. “We came to see the jewels. Where are the jewels?” cried Kalliope Karella as soon as she walked in the door. As the ladies dove into their salads, Simon Teakle, a Christie’s staffer explained how Duke procured her fortune, inheriting more than $50 million by the time she was 10. “She was the richest little girl in the world,” he said, before chronicling her fabulous lifestyle through the years. “It was a life that is far removed from our reality.”
