The increasing celebrity presence at film festivals can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing.
On Saturday, the Hamptons International Film Festival put its star power to good use by naming Sharon Stone mentor to the festival’s up-and-comers including Emmy Rossum, Rooney Mara, Cyron Melville and Alba Rorwacher. To celebrate, Dior Beauty hosted a lunch at Nick and Toni’s.
While guests nibbled on quiche and poached salmon, Stone held court at a table with the young actors, who were left completely rapt. “I’ve come to understand really clearly that it’s not a job, it’s a career. It’s a lifetime dedication,” Stone said of her craft. “You have to maintain your individuality.”
The actress said she was able to do so in her own career thanks to good parenting. To say nothing of her proud, adopted grandparents, Neil and Eileen Mitzman, who were also in attendance. “She is the most exciting, wonderful human being,” said Neil of Stone. “She can be a major pain in the butt, but we love her.”
