With the Golden Globe Awards a mere few days away, nominees Jessica Chastain, Liev Schreiber, Edward Norton, Christoph Waltz, Joanne Froggatt and Allison Tolman jumpstarted the festivities at Audi’s annual bash at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood on Thursday night.
Schreiber, holding hands with his other half Naomi Watts, had more to celebrate than his back-to-back nominations. The unmarried lovebirds will soon be marking their 10-year dating anniversary. “Is it paper? Or wood?” he wondered aloud about what to get the mother of his two children. “Dirt!” cracked Watts, who chatted with Chastain at the soiree. The couple held court at a couch in the back with Waltz.
Among the other attendees were Kate Walsh and Maggie Grace, who wore a sheer Donna Karan number with a plunging neckline over bikini briefs. “I leave for location in Louisiana tomorrow, and this is my one big night out for award season, so I decided to go big or go home, baby,” she said.
With a packed party schedule, Froggatt relied on stylist Brad Goreski to line up her outfits. “I literally got off my flight yesterday, went to the studio and did the whole week of outfits in about two hours. It’s amazing,” she marveled. She debuted the first of the week’s four ensembles, a sky blue two-piece Ermanno Scervino number that exposed “just a little sliver” of skin. “ The “Downton Abbey” actress said she’ll be going for a completely opposite look on the big night. “It’s a dark color, which I’ve not really done before, not in a gown. It’s quite fitted and that’s all I’m going to say,” she said. “I’m only joking. It’s not that important. It’s strapless.” She declared picking the outfit “half the battle.” The other half? “To remind yourself to enjoy it. It [getting nominated] doesn’t come along very often.” Tolman, a newcomer nominated for her role in the series “Fargo,” opted to wear an H&M dress and Forever 21 necklace to Thursday’s event, presumably saving up for her big fashion moment. “I have some actual jewels coming on Sunday and an actual beautiful gown coming,” she said. “It’s got a great big ballgown skirt. I took it off the hanger, and I was like, ‘This is heavy,’” she said of the black, one-shouldered gown, a look similar to her Emmys dress. “I really like that silhouette,” she said, though she admitted that it’s “pretty weird” to have a designer make a dress just for her, “but it’s awesome to feel like you’re taken care of on a night this big.” After doing the Emmys circuit, she said, “I’m actually way relaxed about this in a great way, like in the best way possible. I’m ready to have fun,” she said. “I’m going to have a mimosa, and by mimosa I mean a shot of tequila. I’m going to go for it.”
