Culver City’s 3Labs was packed Saturday night with Hollywood’s most influential moms for Baby2Baby’s fourth annual gala, which this year honored Kerry Washington.
“I remember when we had just taken over the charity and we called 20 of our mom friends for a cocktail party,” said Baby2Baby copresident Kelly Sawyer Patricof. “Now to see 750 people here tonight is pretty incredible.”
Copresident Norah Weinstein said it was a photo of Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba from that first event that spurred Huggies to come on as a major donor.
“The organization really resonates for these moms,” said Busy Philipps. “When you become a mom and think about all the things you really need for your child, and think about women living five minutes away from you who can’t afford those things or have no access to them, it really becomes clear that you have to do something to help.”
Said Washington, “When you become a mom, you enter into this community of mommies and these ladies have become a big part of my life. And it’s the best party of the year so I’m always happy just to come.”
Of course, her friend and Baby2Baby board member Rachel Zoe was quick to elaborate on why she was getting an award. “As great as Kerry is as a human being, she is also so talented, beautiful and philanthropic. She should be honored all the time for everything.”
Said Washington, “I paid them all to say these things.”
