DINNER GEMS: Although most of the cocktail swilling set had happily hung up their heels on Tuesday to recover from the previous night’s Costume Institute gala and subsequent after parties, an intrepid crowd of New York bauble enthusiasts made their way to the Cartier Mansion for a dinner to celebrate the jewelry house’s sponsorship of next week’s Garden Party at the Museum of Modern Art. Cocktails were held on the ground floor, where guests including Leonard and Evelyn Lauder and Gustavo and Patricia Phelps Cisneros, Fabiola Beracasa and Lauren Remington Platt sampled hors d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails and flutes of Champagne while surveying the glass cases filled with elaborate Cartier sparklers. Chiara Clemente window-shopped the jewelry cases with Julie Macklowe, while Amy Adams enthused over her long-time relationship with the house.

“I’ve been doing this sort of forever, with them…” the actress explained contentedly. “They’ve been great to me since…the beginning.”
And was she tired from the night before?
“Oh The Met last night was incredible,” she said. “Overwhelming! Crazy. But incredible. What after parties were there? I don’t even know where I went. Home? I’m not really into the after-parties anymore, I have a baby. That’s my after party.”
Rosario Dawson, decked out in what she called “a heck of a lot of diamonds” ($185,000-worth, WWD was assured by a Cartier representative) chatted with model-turned-blogger Hanneli Mustaparta near a selection of diamond-encrusted timepieces.
Mustaparta gushed over her Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony heels.
“They look crazy but they’re actually comfy,” she said of the platform wooden heels.
Gucci Westman and husband David Neville arrived with Glenna Neece and Marcus Wainwright. Westman laughed and compared the similar shade of her jumpsuit to Mustaparta’s Acne shift. Brice and Helen Marden slipped into the party, greeting Reed and Delphine Krakoff.
The dinner was held on the rooftop of the Cartier mansion, catered by Imperial No. 9 chef Sam Talbot. (“He’s a babe,” one partygoer said. “And the food isn’t bad either.”) Sean Lennon and girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl were the surprise performance, crooning sweetly at each other while guests finished their plates.
“This is perfect, for tonight,” Adams nodded. “Easy, relaxing, beautiful.”
