Cartier’s International Polo event on Sunday drew a pack of British swells to Windsor Great Park for lunch and a match. A few Americans showed up as well, and though Yankees aren’t typically very well versed in the sport, those in attendance showed no signs of intimidation.
“If they need a replacement player today, I’m there,” said Dawn Jones, wife of Tommy Lee Jones. “I play [polo] like a Jack Russell on crack.” (The couple is in town because Tommy Lee is shooting “Captain America,” ironically, in London. “I play a gruff, old military man,” said the actor, adding that the role wasn’t much fun.)

Leslie Mann was newer to the game but no less enthusiastic about all its trappings. “I’ll hopefully get to see the princes,” she said. William and Harry were nowhere in sight, although Prince Charles presented the prizes at the end of the breezy, sunny day. It’s doubtful he was the royal that Mann had in mind.
Throughout the afternoon, guests such as Geri Halliwell, Paloma Faith, Sir Ben Kingsley and Anthony Oppenheimer soaked up the sun on the lawn. It was a much-needed respite for Amber Le Bon, who had just returned from a modeling gig in Asia. “I loved it so much there, I cried my way home,” she said.
Ruth Wilson has been busy working, too, shooting the British TV crime drama “Luther.” “I play a Hannibal Lecter-type character,” Wilson said. “People always ask me if I did a lot of research. I tell them no, actually, it’s been a surprisingly easy role.”
