It’s another match made in cross-promotion heaven. The Council of Fashion Designers of America has partnered with the Editorialist to showcase a different accessories designer in the council each month. The collaboration was kicked off with a dinner at Manhattan’s High Line Hotel Wednesday night.
“We want to highlight all the amazing accessories talent under their umbrella. You think of it for the ready-to-wear, but there’s this rich accessories talent that often gets overlooked,” said Editorialist cofounder Kate Davidson Hudson, pregnant and glowing in Balenciaga. “I don’t think it’s supposed to fit exactly like this,” she said of her look. “But, seven months in, I throw in the towel.”
Guests drifted up into the refractory room for predinner cocktails after traversing the hotel’s courtyard, lined with Gothic brick buildings. “It’s very Hogwarts out here,” one guest said of the collegiate look. Inside, where the likes of Steven Kolb, Nina Agdal, Leandra Medine, Roopal Patel, Claire Distenfeld, Jennifer Fisher and Martha Hunt were clinking their coupes of Champagne, Natalie Joos had a different take. “I feel like I’m in, what’s that show called…” she drifted off, searching for the words. “‘Game of Thrones!’”
Indeed, the room, anchored by a sprawling, long cream-clothed table, looked like a medieval sanctuary with vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows. David Bowie’s “Golden Years” floating through the space gave it a modern touch. Hannah Bronfman breezed in moments before guests were seated for dinner. On the other side of the room, Joos and Elizabeth Gilpin congratulated Jeísa Chiminazzo on her engagement. “Is it your first?” Joos asked, eyebrow cocked.
