On Wednesday night, a group of socials, including Maggie Betts, Byrdie Bell, Lauren Remington Platt, Marina Rust, Jamie Tisch and Lauren DuPont made their way to La Grenouille, where Chanel held a dinner for Blake Lively, the official ambassador for its new Mademoiselle handbag line. It was a first stop for Lively, who will be celebrated by the fashion house with a second dinner in Paris on Saturday.

On Wednesday, the “Gossip Girl” star arrived fashionably late, testing the nerves of at least one reveler.

“Blake is an old friend of mine, she invited me,” Justin Long said. “I get a little uncomfortable with fashion socializing, and since Blake is not here yet, I am glad I ran into my friend Waris [Ahluwalia]. He is my life jacket.”

When Lively finally made her way into the chic eatery, she greeted guests, who also included Allison Sarofim, Marjorie Gubelmann, Andre Balazs, Lola Schnabel and Hope Atherton. Lively, for her part, brought along her parents, who will accompany her to Paris this weekend. Asked if she would make her way down the Chanel runway this season, Lively demurred.

“I would probably do anything Karl Lagerfeld asked me to do but there are so many models who are so good at it,” she said. “I’d rather watch Sasha [Pivovarova] than me.”
