RHYTHM SECTION: Dance was the theme of Carine Roitfeld’s second issue of CR Fashion Book, and dancing there was at a party in its honor on Tuesday. Roitfeld kicked up her heels with professional dancer Lil Buck as a samba band turned the main dining room of Casa Lever into an ad hoc Brazilian nightclub, co-sponsored by Belvedere and Veuve Clicquot. Nearby, the singer Ciara shimmied with longtime friend Riccardo Tisci, who was in town to meet with Anna Wintour about the upcoming Met Ball they are cochairing. Ciara talked up her new album, “One Woman Army,” and said she had discovered “a whole new energy” in the process. Of Roitfeld’s magazine venture, Tisci was enthusiastic. “I’ve known Carine a lot as an editor, but more as a human, a woman, as a mother. I love that the magazine doesn’t have any barriers, it’s like a special private club,” said the Givenchy designer.
There was one barrier to the magazine in the form of a cadre of tuxedo-clad male models who lent out copies to curious readers but quickly snatched them back, lest any issues escape prior to the magazine’s on-sale date next week. Swanning about the room was a posse of more identifiable female models, including Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Lily Donaldson, Constance Jablonski, Irina Shayk, Jessica Hart and Kiara Kabukuru. Like Roitfeld herself, Kroes revealed the secret to her slender frame was regular ballet classes with Ballet Beautiful founder Mary Helen Bowers. Also in the high-decibel room were Marina Abramovic, Giancarlo Giammetti, Joseph Altuzarra, Sophie Theallet, André Balazs, Stavros Niarchos, Stephen Gan, Cecilia Dean and Claire, Prisca and Jenna Courtin-Clarins. Olivier Theyskens made the scene despite battling a bout of fatigue after staging his own Theyskens’ Theory show a day earlier. “This fashion week, every time I wanted to go see a show, I would go to sleep instead,” he said, pulling a sweater over his head. Now reenergized, he’s working on opening a store in Paris and taking a trip to Tokyo this spring.
