Who knew a handbag accessory could cause such a stir?
At the center of the new Fendi pop-up shop — a cozy space on the corner of Prince and Greene Streets in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood — was a glass vitrine housing Karlito, the furry Karl Lagerfeld doppelganger dangling from Cara Delevingne’s fingers as she trotted down the runway opening the Fendi fall show. It was the prop du jour on Tuesday night as those who’ve made a career of getting snapped took turns posing for paps with the little guy.
Guests — including Hannah Bronfman, Leandra Medine, Tali Lennox, Alexandra Richards, Claire Distenfeld and Natalie Joos — milled about the store as p.r. reps tried to keep their eye on the accessory as it got passed around. (It is ticketed at $1,750.) It did, momentarily, go missing as a guest carried it out with him. Accidently, of course.
