ALLISON’S WORLD: Guests having dinner in the main dining room of Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria in NoHo Wednesday night were privy to quite the spectacle.
Media types, fashion designers and celebrities marched up to the candle lit second floor dinning room of the eatery to honor Allison Williams, who is Glamour magazine’s February cover star.
Guests including Seth Meyers, Brian Williams, Diane Von Furstenberg, Barry Diller, Joseph Altuzzara, Prabal Gurung, Peter Copping, Lauren Bush Lauren and David Remnick were all there to pay tribute to the “Girls” actress, who mingled unobtrusively over cocktails and later a multi-course dinner of shared plates.
“I know this is exactly what you all wanted to do in the cold winter,” said Williams, who briefly thanked everyone for coming.
Williams had been in the headlines earlier in the week for her racy sex scene in the new season of the HBO series. When asked about the episode, Williams blushed and grinned: “Oh god, you saw that?”
Nearby, Peter Copping, who recently took the creative director role at Oscar de la Renta, chatted with tablemates Diller and Von Furstenberg. Although he’s gearing up for New York collections, it was rumored at the dinner that Williams may don an Oscar gown for her wedding. In the spring, The “Girls” star became engaged to CollegeHumor co-founder Ricky Van Veen, who was at the dinner.
Glamour editor in chief Cindi Leive meanwhile sang Williams’ praise, adding: “I first met Allison three years ago. Glamour had done a feature profiling the cast of the show [Girls],” Leive said, explaining that later she spoke on a panel with Williams about women’s careers. “All the women in the audience fell in love with her. She was hilarious and she was completely humble. She had no idea what ‘Girls’ would become.”
“I think she knew,” Von Furstenberg interrupted.
The comment was met with wild laughter from diners and a sly smile from Williams.
