Haider Ackermann made a rare appearance in the States Monday night for a party in his honor at Saks Fifth Avenue. The store set up an exhibit in the center of the third floor women’s department to showcase his spring collection. Surrounded by well-wishers, which included a bevy of models and magazine editors in addition to shoppers, Ackermann said he looked at the cocktail party as an “exercise” that will be helpful for his future. “It’s very interesting to meet up with the people who buy my line,” he said. He further noted that the event, as well as Wednesday’s personal appearance at the store, is a good way to build his relationship with Saks, which is now in its second season with the label. “It shows I have confidence in them and they have confidence in me,” he said.
