MAMMA MIA: “My samples were ready three weeks ago — my mother sewed on all the buttons,” said the Chinese designer Huishan Zhang at Harry’s Bar to celebrate his first London runway show. “There’s a lot of lace [in the collection], it’s my signature, really, and the thing that helps me to connect to women,” he said at the dinner hosted by Luxup, the members club that caters to luxury-loving travelers.
Vogue China editor Angelica Cheung flew in to join Luxup founders and joint chief executives James Corsellis and Mark Watts, and the site’s London fashion curator, Sarah Mower. Zhang was born in China and educated at Central Saint Martins in London, where he is now based. His collection is carried by stores including Browns and Joyce.
