In celebration of her spring collection shown earlier that day, L’Wren Scott threw an intimate dinner at the Lambs Club at the Chatwal Hotel Thursday evening. And unlike many an overstuffed fashion week bash, this was populated by a select mix of top editors, family and friends.
Daphne Guinness arrived with Bernard Henri-Levy, Shala Monroque caught up with a pal and Andre Balazs made the rounds.
Jade Jagger, who was headed back to London the next day, explained her love of Scott’s designs simply.
“She’s my stepmother,” she said with a laugh, before adding of the clothes, “I love the color and the cut and the combo of the two.”
Scott arrived arm in arm with beau Mick Jagger and said she often solicits his advice on her looks.
“I wouldn’t want an always ‘yes’ answer. It’s always nice to get the truth,” she said, of Jagger’s honesty.
“Well, I’m gentle, you know,” he said. “I try to be all the positives first.”
Even the more unexpected of guests that evening seemed to have close ties to Scott.
“I know her because I’ve met her at small lunches and dinners and I’m with some friends that know her,” said Charlie Rose, an unusual sighting during fashion week.
Less uncommon a presence, Kanye West arrived just after the 9pm start time and in between brushing off inquiries—”Not too many questions; not too many questions” went his refrain—he said Scott had once taken him under her wing.
“The first time I came to Paris [fashion week] with my fiance and we didn’t know anyone, she was very nice to us and exchanged information and showed me around,” he said.
After a dinner of lamb and bass in the red banquette booths downstairs, the group moved to the upstairs lounge where they were joined by Lara Stone, Lisa Airan, Anne Grauso and Genevieve Jones and danced the night away, family style.
