For the last few seasons, Marc Jacobs’ after parties have been for and about his staff, but things really reached a head Monday night when the designer hosted a celebration for photographer Brian Bowen Smith’s book “The Men & Women of Marc Jacobs.” The coffee-table tome features portraits of employees, from salespeople to seamstresses, and several large-scale prints were on display in a pop-up gallery adjacent to the Marc by Marc store on Bleecker Street. “[Brian] did such an excellent job capturing the personalities of my co-workers,” said Marc by Marc staffer Lexie Zawaski, who appears in the book. “It represents how this company is. There are a lot of unique personalities, a lot of creative people, and they have fun together.” That much was clear at the party. While some staffers clinked glasses in the gallery, others went over to Bookmarc and asked for their peers’ autographs. Meanwhile, Jacobs and company president Robert Duffy, both of whom have head shots in the book, told WWD what’s been on their reading lists these days.
