Despite weather that was far from ideal (oscillating between infernally hot and terrifyingly torrential) and many a buzzy event all over New York to compete against, Barneys New York managed to wrangle a coveted swath of in-demand party guests on Tuesday night.
The upscale store hosted a supper on its penthouse floor to toast the arrival of Paco Rabanne’s fall 2015 collection and to welcome the brand’s newish creative director Julien Dossena. Jennifer Fisher, Emmy Rappe and Lisa Perry joined the Barneys brass for the occasion — eager to ogle the color-blocked and chain mail-laden collection.
Liya Kebede, a cohost of the dinner, was dying to meet the night’s honoree, amusingly for the first time. “I wore Paco Rabanne in Cannes, and it was really cool. I love the way Julien is looking at everything, and I love the modern aspect of what he’s doing,” she raved. Kebede was the perfect Paco girl, who Dossena pegs as “effortless, easy, young and cool but at the same time sharp.”
“The purpose is that the girl desires the clothes and wants to pair it with her own stuff,” Dossena said, as he admired a room of women clearly giving in to such desires.
