The day before the official start of Fashion Week, the Italians came to town.
FIT hosted a very civilized luncheon to honor The Last Emperor himself, Valentino.
Among a sea of women dressed in Valentino red, Daphne Guinness was the perfect a-Muse-bouche, dressed in black. The savage beauty, is preparing for her own museum exhibit later in the month when her personal collection goes on display at FIT.
Later that night Target celebrated bringing Missoni to the masses at its store on 42nd street. Holding court was scion Margherita Missoni who introduced guests to a 25 foot tall Missoni clad puppet while her pocket priced wares jumped off the shelves.
Thursday’s fashion shows at the Lincoln Center venue proved the calm before the storm of the now annual Fashion’s Night Out. Teen frenzy hit Manhattan with FNO sightings of Justin Bieber, Glee, and Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Meanwhile, Oscar de la Renta hosted a very adult affair with Veuve Clicquot and a Mariachi band.
Sarah Jessica Parker gushed to the crowd that she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on FNO. With Oscar’s encouragement, the actress joined the musicians in a rendition of “Ay, yi, yi, yi” which was exactly how I was feeling by night’s end.
