On Saturday night, a stylish crowd gathered at Brian Bantry’s Wainscott house for a Carolina Herrera-sponsored screening of Renee Zellweger’s latest flick, “My One and Only.”
Based on George Hamilton’s 1950’s adolescence, the film features Zellweger as the actor’s mother, an eccentric flirt who takes her teenage sons on a cross-country road trip in search of a rich husband.

Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, at least according to the star. “I would say [my character] is an opportunist and a cunning person,” said Zellweger.” “[But] when you consider the kind of opportunities that were out there for women at the time, she didn’t have a whole lot to negotiate with. She’s a survivor.”
Hamilton (who apologized to photographers for arriving “unusually sunburned”) was moved by Zellweger’s potrayal. “I’m usually too slick to cry,” said the actor. “But when I saw Renee [onscreen], I did.”
After credits rolled, revelers, including Marc Jacobs, Jon Bon Jovi, Tory Burch, Lisa Airan, Yigal Azrouel and Nacho Figueras with pregnant wife Delfina headed over to East Hampton eatery The Blue Parrot, where Zellweger is a part-owner, for margaritas and chips and salsa.
