Rodarte toasted its spring runway show on Tuesday night with an after party at Fig. 19, where front-row notables Rooney Mara, David Byrne and Elle and Dakota Fanning swung by, as did Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.

Laura Mulleavy took a quick break from saying hello to the packed house of well-wishers to discuss the impressive front-row turnout for the line’s show earlier that day, which also included Beyoncé Knowles and Taylor Swift.

“If someone wants to come and they show up, it’s exciting,” the Rodarte co-designer said. “It makes it more fun, and it is fun, but in the moment you’re so focused on your own work, it’s actually something you don’t pay attention to — it’s very weird — until everyone wants to talk to you about it after.…It’s an honor that people would even want to come to your show, whether it’s a retailer or someone like an artist. Like Miranda July was there. That’s a huge deal for us.”

WWD had spoken to July at the show, who had called the Mulleavy sisters, in the most pleasant sense of the word possible, weirdos.

“Yeah, yeah,” Laura said with a laugh. “We’re weirdos together, so it makes sense.”
