Despite going up against the Director’s Guild Awards, the Entertainment Weekly Pre-SAG party drew its share of fun-seekers on the Saturday night Hollywood circuit. And not everyone had award season on their minds as they let loose at Chateau Marmont.
“I don’t care about this stuff, but a bunch of friends are here,” said Amber Tamblyn, whose film “127 Hours” is up for an Oscar.
“It’s really James [Franco]’s film, not mine. I’m James’ cut-off, severed arm — That’s my starring role in it,” Tamblyn joked on the black carpet before catching up with Jeremy Renner and David Cross inside.
Rose McGowan admitted she came to the party hoping to meet Oscar nominee Colin Firth.
“I’ve had a crush on [him] for about ten years, but I hope I don’t see him because then I’ll turn red and my arms will start flapping,” she said.
Nearby another Oscar nominee relished a celebrity encounter.
“I just sat next to Chevy Chase! That was pretty amazing!” said Mark Ruffalo, also fresh from the DGA’s. The actor was actually staying at the Chateau, which made attending the party a no-brainer: “This was close to my room, so that’s always a good thing. I knew there was a party. I actually don’t get dressed up so nice otherwise.”
The ubiquitous but always welcome Sofia Vergara stopped by after her DGA presenting duties while Kevin Spacey—who arrived close to midnight—mingled with Dexter’s Michael C. Hall.
