LIKE MINDS: Beauty sleep was the last thing on Anja Rubik’s mind on Tuesday night, what with Simple Minds slated to perform live at Replay’s annual Cannes party. The model pulled up at the Hotel Martinez at the stroke of midnight, just in time for the concert. As a bohemian-looking Eugenie Niarchos swept by wearing a beaded Pucci top with a vintage skirt, Rubik paused to discuss her favorite songs by the group. “I’m really bad with names, I can try to sing it: ne, ne ne, neee,” tooted the model-cum-editor. Then talk turned to her own party plans for the next day at Pierre Cardin’s bubble house outside of Cannes for the launch of her and husband Sasha Knezevic’s style title, 25 Magazine.
“It’s more of a book than a magazine,” she said of the 300-page tome, which is dedicated to female photographers. “There’s Caitlin Cronenberg, Corinne Day, Annie Leibovitz, Ellen von Unwerth, Anna Bauer — all of the best women are there,” she said, adding that she sees the magazine as a lifestyle project. “It’s connected to a lot of videos, collaborations with artists and products, a lot of work went into it,” Rubik said, adding that she is in talks with a designer to collaborate on a major international fashion-related project for September.

Frédéric Beigbeder, who also attended the Replay event, expressed concern that his love of Simple Minds revealed his age. “It’s sad, I’m an old man and I have a simple mind, so I feel connected to the band,” said the French writer, who is working on a screenplay for his second movie. “It will be about fashion and all those crazy people who are obsessed with beauty and youth,” he said, describing it as a new version of Robert Altman’s “Prêt-à-Porter.”
