Watching the three Kardashian sisters — Khloe, Kim and Kourtney — pose and re-pose at a step-and-repeat is to observe an exercise in studied, mechanical precision. They appear not so much as mini-moguls of the entertainment industry as a troupe of incredibly lifelike robots bedecked in glittering jewelry and three different interpretations of how to pair cleavage with leopard print. Or at least that was the case Tuesday night at Annie Leibovitz’s Meatpacking District studio, where the trio toasted their Sears-exclusive Kardashian Kollection.
“Kim was wearing this shirt earlier — it’s shown with a bow,” Khloe said of her sheer black button-down blouse tucked into a print skirt, “but I decided to wear it like this.”
“We all are like crazy people,” Kourtney said. “We work together, constantly spinning ideas off of each other.… That’s how we work.”
Kourtney and Khloe spoke freely, while Kim, stuck snugly between them, mostly stared ahead. Asked about their plans for fashion week, Kourtney looked at Kim.
“We don’t know yet,” Kourtney said. “We don’t really have any plans. We’re not sure if we’re going to any shows or anything.”
Kim chimed in: “We’re filming our show, so that takes up most of our time.”
Since the trio’s show is billed as “reality,” WWD inquired why it couldn’t be filmed simultaneously with their other projects.
“We’re editing our novel, too,” Kourtney quickly filled in. “It’s exciting. It’s about three sisters whose names all begin with ‘K….’ ”
“We talk about other celebrities, people we couldn’t name directly,” Khloe said. “The reason we could be so free with it and our stories and everything is because no one knows which of us these scandalous stories came from.”
“It’s from all of us,” Kim sighed. “We sat down with a writer and just went at it. We all worked together. We all work together.”
