The social set was Bronx bound Friday night on its yearly field trip to the New York Botanical Gardens for the 12th annual Winter Wonderland Ball. A scattering of early evening flurries heightened the seasonal mood as guests made their way into the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.
Alexandra Lind Rose, Jennifer Creel and Cristina Greeven Cuomo were among semiregular attendees in a crowd that also included Phillip Lim, Alexandra Kerry and Lisa Airan. As usual, the night marked a maiden trip to the outer-borough oasis for a few.

“If you’re going to go up to the Bronx [for the] Botanical Gardens, ladies in gowns and jewels and high fashion is the way to do it,” said first-timer Brad Goreski.
Once in from the cold, revelers warmed up with cocktails and small talk in the greenhouse as the garden’s model train show chugged around the flora, models of city landmarks and thousands of Christmas lights.
“I miss those colored lights,” said one wistful partygoer to another in the hall. “They’re so out of vogue right now and that’s sad.”
Lauren Remington Platt’s strapless black Giambattista Valli gown proved a hit with the photographers in the house thanks in large part to its fringy lower third. Platt employed a bit of onomatopoeia to explain that she had made a few modifications to her outfit to make it more party friendly.
“This dress originally had a lot more oomph in the poof,” she explained. “I wanted to have fun tonight. I wanted to dance.”
She wasn’t alone. The dance floor hosted a healthy crowd following dinner, though a few partygoers doubled back into the greenhouse to enjoy a drink and respite from the sound system. Byrdie Bell was among the latter crowd sporting blonde eyebrows (the product of a recent modeling job) and red lipstick, and might have had the most festive look of the evening.
“My mother said I looked like Santa Claus,” Bell said with a laugh.
