Celebrity romances are scrutinized to within an inch of their life, but none quite like that of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Which is why when the couple arrived to the screening of Holmes’ new film “The Romantics” Tuesday night, all eyes were on them.

They held hands on the carpet, stopped for photos (Holmes has adopted her husband’s trademark hand on the spouse’s stomach pose) and snuggled throughout the film. But romance is not only about love, Holmes said. “I think part of being a romantic is dreaming and creating and I like to do both.”
Case in point: she’s shooting the History Channel’s Kennedy biopic during fashion week, but said that she and stylist Jeanne Yang have been hard at work on their Holmes & Yang spring collection. “We are really excited because we are doing some prints and a couple of new colors, not too much, but we are having fun with that. We produce everything here in the garment district so it’s always fun coming and doing fittings.”
Recently Holmes promoted a different brand when she and her fellow “Romantics” Josh Duhamel, Elijah Wood, Adam Brody, Malin Akerman, Anna Paquin, Jeremy Strong and Rebecca Lawrence appeared in the J. Crew catalogue, modeling its high-end pieces and goofing around with cupcakes. (J. Crew, along with Cinema Society and People StyleWatch, hosted the screening.) Brody was the only cast member to show up to the premiere in the label, and he too admitted to some amorous tendencies. “Even though I am a pessimist and all of these other things, I do consider myself a romantic,” he said. “I regard the idea of love very highly.”
