Tommy Hilfiger’s big show on Sunday — a major event at Lincoln Center with Jennifer Lopez, Lenny Kravitz and Bradley Cooper — ran seamlessly into a big party at the Metropolitan Opera House, complete with dozens of male models lining the sprawling red carpet (it’s rumored they got paid $300 apiece to stand and look dapper for an hour or two).

Some were surprised by the magnitude of the event. “I figured Tommy would do a dinner party or something, but it looks like everyone in Manhattan was invited,” sniffed one partygoer.

Perhaps three packed mezzanines of the fashionable masses were a tad too much for marquee attendees like Lopez and Kravitz, who purportedly slipped in and out of the soiree before The Strokes took the stage. But celebs including Neil Patrick Harris, Rumer Willis and Kelly Osbourne stuck around for the duration. “There’s a reason why Tommy has been doing this for 25 years,” said Osbourne. “When you think of American fashion, you think of Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, no question.”

“I came for The Strokes,” said Jeremy Piven. “I don’t have a high reference point for fashion, but I really appreciate it.” Other highlights for the “Entourage” actor? “Maybe lighting my cigar,” Piven remarked as he wove his way through the Champagne-swilling, cigarette-smoking clusters on the veranda in pursuit of a lighter.
