“Any excuse to dress up in diamonds, I’m there,” Blake Lively said.
The actress, along with Dita Von Teese, Genevieve Jones, Julie Macklowe, Jennifer Creel and Chiu-Ti Jansen, braved the New York cold Tuesday night to attend Van Cleef & Arpels’ holiday cocktail party.

The event doubled as an unveiling of the Fifth Avenue flagship’s renovation, as well as a showcase for a unique ballet performance curated by Benjamin Millepied and choreographed by Justin Peck.
Decked in diamonds and embroidered Marchesa, Lively reflected on her first not-so-subtle encounter with the brand.
“For my 21st birthday, I hung out at the Van Cleef store until they agreed to let me wear this bracelet for my birthday,” she said gesturing towards her glittering arm candy. “I borrowed it again, but I have to give it back at the end of the night.”
Maybe she could ask for it as a Christmas present?
“They don’t even need to give me the whole piece,” she said, showcasing some bargaining skills. “Just give me a toothpick and I’ll pick out a few stones.”
Guest mingled around the new tri-level space, taking in glass-enclosed displays of pieces from the Van Cleef archive. Von Teese, poured into a low-cut Carolina Herrera dress, showed off her own borrowed piece, a floral necklace resting on her famous décolletage.
“I collect a lot of vintage jewelry,” she said. “I love the history behind things.”
The burlesque dancer was interrupted midsentence when a presumed waiter broke out in plié — the performance portion of the evening had begun.
Nearby, Lively perked up as the dancers sprung to life throughout the room.
“I think they just said, ‘What is every girl’s dream?’” she gushed. “They’re going to have Prince Charming come in on a white horse with some chocolates soon.”
