GOING FOR VARIETY: Variety and Women in Film hosted a pre-Emmy event Friday at Scarpetta at the Montage Beverly Hills, drawing Julie Bowen, Bree Turner, Kat Graham, Sam Trammell, Roma Downey, Laura Prepon, Sasha Alexander, Michelle Trachtenberg, Vanessa Marano, Raquel Welch, Zac Posen, Jane Lynch, Jessica Szohr, Jenna Ushkowitz, Vanessa Lachey, Anna Chlumsky, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Cat Deeley and Lisa Rinna.
“This is the third year in a row that I’ve codesigned my Emmys dress,” Sarah Hyland said. “I look at a lot of dresses and a tailor makes it happen. I drew up some sketches; it’s a team effort. I love vintage-inspired looks.”
Szohr and Ushkowitz walked the red carpet together, sharing a laugh in between camera poses.

“I usually don’t have a stylist, but this week there are so many events,” Deeley said, wearing a black dress by Maria Lucia Hohan. Deeley is preparing for a trip to Mumbai next week as a UNICEF ambassador.
Posen chatted with friends on an outdoor couch while the “Modern Family” cast mingled near the bar.
“I’m most excited to meet Jon Hamm at the Emmys. My husband is here, he knows,” Bree Turner said. “The shows are great; I love ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘The Mindy Project.’”
Kat Graham agreed.
“I’m excited to see ‘Breaking Bad’ win everything,” she said, wearing a vintage Christian Dior dress adorned with a bow.
As the night ended, stars left with treats from the Montage’s Bouchon Bakery. Sofia Vergara made her way past several astonished passersby outside the hotel and quietly slipped into her car, wearing crystal-studded Christian Louboutin platform heels.
