The launch of Italian Vogue’s bilingual Web site, vogue.it, had tutta Milano flocking to the Villa Reale, whose stately facade was lit up with cover images of the magazine. Editor in chief Franca Sozzani greeted guests, including designers Giorgio Armani, Frida Giannini and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, with the city’s mayor, Letizia Moratti.
Roberto Cavalli sent photographers in a frenzy, making two grand entrances: once with Courtney Love and then with Lindsay Lohan.
The art-loving Miuccia Prada said the next big exhibition at her Fondazione will be on conceptual artist John Baldessari. “What I look for is someone worldly and with lots of new ideas,” said the designer. After the success of the pop-up Double Club in London by artist Carsten Höller, Prada said she was in talks with the artist to do another club.
Love topped her powder pink, sleeveless Cavalli gown with elaborate headgear by British milliner KissCurl, which sells on Etsy.com. “I’m going to be wearing it for a bridal Vogue U.K. shoot,” said Love. Lohan sported a newly dark mane. “I needed a change, and color is in the world for a reason, don’t you think?” she said.
The contingent from Hollywood also included Zoe Saldana, Claire Danes and actress and artist Meredith Ostrom, who said she was excited about her new film with Heather Graham and Jack Huston called “Boogie Woogie,” out in April. “It’s about the art scene, and Damien Hirst has been involved in the production and created art for it,” she said.
“I love Milan. It is like feminism never happened, ” opined actress Margo Stilley, in town with Ostrom and catching up with Francesca Versace, just back from a jaunt skiing in Saint Moritz. “I’m heading back to London to finish work on a comedy film for BBC 2 with Steve Coogan called ‘The Trip,’” Stilley added.
Anja Rubik and boyfriend Sasha Knezevic are gearing up for the March launch of their first issue of 25, a Viennese magazine under their charge, which will also be available in English. “I will not be on the cover,” laughed Rubik. Instead, she leaned on modeling peers Kariie Kloss and Constance Jablonski to do the honors.
Also at the party were Silvia Venturini Fendi and Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Ferruccio and Leonardo Ferragamo, Angela Missoni, Luisa Beccaria, Cesare Paciotti, Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, Diego Della Valle, Dsquared designers Dean and Dan Caten, Fiat heir Lapo Elkann, La Scala star dancer Roberto Bolle and Bianca Brandolini D’Adda.
