A veritable slew of bigwigs tore themselves away from their cedar-shingled manses Saturday night and helped kick off the Hamptons social season at a party for Kelly Klein‘s newest photography tome, “Emotion.”
Barry Diller, Ross Bleckner, Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Sorrenti, Donna Karan, Steven Klein and Sandy Gallin filed into Glenn Horowitz Bookseller to greet a luminous Klein. “I rode my horse this morning to clear my head,” she said. Pal Diller generously bought up an entire armful of books (at several hundred dollars a pop), the proceeds of which will go to God’s Love We Deliver.
Francisco Costa drove in from his home in Bellport to pay his respects, while Helen and Tim Schifter had a more leisurely drive from Sagaponack. “I sat by the pool this afternoon and got some sun,” admitted Tim. “It’s my last vice.”
Afterward, an intimate few including Tony Melillo, Calvin and Marci Klein, Sam Shahid and Doug Lloyd, continued on to Kelly Klein’s home for a casual dinner.
And while it may seem like almost everybody in New York has been to the Hamptons at least once, Mandy Moore had not. That same night, as one of 200 guests at Reed and Delphine Krakoff‘s home in Southampton for the Parrish Art Museum Midsummer Gala Benefit, Moore admitted it was her first time in that neck of the woods. But she wasn’t about to stay long — she was off the next day to the One & Only Palmilla resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. Summer regulars such as Gilles and Kelly Bensimon, Rita Schrager, Debbie Bancroft, Arnold Scaasi and Richard Meier also launched the season at the Krakoffs.
