It’s been over a week since Hillary Clinton conceded the presidential election, and, save for a Chappaqua hike photo that went viral, she and President Bill Clinton have stayed out of the public eye — until Wednesday evening. While Hillary was in D.C. delivering a 20-minute speech at an event for the Children’s Defense Fund, Bill made a surprise appearance at Modern Museum of Art to support friend Harvey Weinstein’s latest film, “Lion.”
President Clinton was seated in the audience as guests milled in unaware — the only tip-off being the secret service who stood nearby. As he was introducing the film, Weinstein spoke of the emotional and challenging week many of the audience had experienced, and announced President Clinton’s presence, which was met by a standing ovation. The film’s stars, including Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel, Priyanka Bose and Sunny Pawar, all then met President Clinton and took photos. The real Saroo Brierley, who the film is based on, was also present with his parents, Sue and John Brierley.
