SAN FRANCISCO — Cherry blossoms augur early spring in San Francisco, and they had guests at the Fine Arts Museum’s Junior Committee midwinter gala earlier this month already thinking of their summer travel plans.

“We’re spending the summer in Saint-Tropez and Siena with family,” said Vanessa Getty as she deftly defended her citrine silk charmeuse gown from train tramplers. “But first I’m heading for Paris with my mother to find some great swimsuits and some glamorous high-heeled sandals.”

Singer Vanessa Carlton was flying to North Carolina for weeks of sold-out concerts. “I love performing in towns where I don’t know a soul, but they’ve all bought my CDs,” said Carlton, who admitted that her dream now is to write a movie soundtrack. “I’ve got an agent in Los Angeles, and I hope we can make it happen.”

Katie and Todd Traina had just returned from Lizard Island, off the coast of Australia, on a belated honeymoon. “Every morning we’d take a boat to a deserted beach and spend the day swimming and diving,” said Katie. “Now we’re ready to head for Newport, our favorite summer place.”

Also tripping among the Rodins were Samantha Traina, Summer Walker, Kathryn Lasater, Jennifer Biederbeck and Kimberly Bini.
