NEW YORK — When you are as busy as Amy Sacco, how do you plan your wardrobe for fashion week? The unofficial social director for the celebrities, designers and dedicated scenesters this week doesn’t even have time to sit down at one of her own banquettes, let alone shop. Luckily, the tall blonde discovered a young designer, Matthew Gebbert, at — where else? — her perennial hot spot Bungalow 8.
“He just kept coming in with these really pretty girls in beautiful dresses. One day I asked them who made their clothes and it was him,” explains Sacco. Gebbert is custom-making Sacco a few frocks to help carry her through the week. “His dresses are so interesting,” she explains. “They are amazing for my lifestyle since they are super easy to wear. It’s not like I have to worry about bumping into someone — you can hand-wash them.”
Sacco also asked Gebbert to design new uniforms for the girls on the Bungalow 8 staff — black silk jersey halter numbers, which bowed last Friday. More fashion — just the nightcap the style crowd needs.
