REALITY CHECK: Fans of Imitation packed Milk’s penthouse to capacity for Tara Subkoff. The designer said she feels great save for hearing loss in one ear. “I say, ‘What?’ a lot now but I feel more energized and more creative than ever,” she said.
The designer is teaming up with the Brain Tumor Foundation to work on a design-related project but declined to offer specifics. “We want to put design in places you wouldn’t expect to find it to help people,” she said. As for whether her day job now seems inconsequential in light of her medical trials, she said, “it makes me want to create my vision more. Everything you do matters, ” Subkoff said. “I’m also excited to design to celebrate the beauty of design and life.”
