It’s a common practice nowadays among front-row starlets and socials to arrive at a fashion show decked out in the designer’s duds. But what to do when the event features 10 different collections? Try the approach of rising actress Joy Bryant (who is no stranger to this unspoken rule, having attended Donna Karan’s New York show in one of her frocks) by mixing it up. The Bronx-born ingenue showed up at the finale to Los Angeles Fashion Week, this year’s Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund, in very New York designer Jane Mayle’s Empire-waisted, flowy aubergine dress, Jimmy Choo stilettos and a Fendi metallic purple python clutch. Bryant, who is set to hit it big as the female lead in the upcoming 50 Cent film, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” did allow herself one diplomatic nod to her SoCal surroundings: her black cardigan by Los Angeles-based designer Jenni Kayne.
